As a child, Tanya knew she wanted to be an artist.  She formally trained and earned a Fine Arts Bachelors degree in Chandigarh, India.  After graduation, she moved to California and made it her permanent home.

Her work falls into several categories: Figurativisim, Cubism, Abstract, Sikhism, and Social Realism. Recently Tanya has focussed her efforts into an abstract spiritual series. She experiments with new forms and ways to express inner beauty and strength.

Tanya’s paintings reveal to the greater extent the sufferings of the people around the world in different ways. Her latest painting depicts the 1947 India’s partition and the suffering involved with the displacement of people.

Tanya has shown her paintings internationally: India, Beverly Hills, Toronto, London, Hong Kong, Munich, Vienna, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Copenhagen, and Singapore. She has exhibited her work in over 50+ shows. Her work has appeared in Triton Museum, NUMU Museum, Washington DC, Crocker Museum, New York, Los Altos, as well as other local groups. The painting, Whisper, is presently displayed at the Triton Museum of Art.

Tanya’s work continues to touch, move, and inspire people around the globe.

Tanya’s diverse work falls into several categories including Realism, Social Realism, Cubism & Abstract, and Spiritual Art.

This was an artistic movement that emerged in France in the 1840’s. Realist art works depicts people  of all classes and in situations that arise in ordinary life. I paint Realism with how things appear to me and in my imagination. I paint bold stories with my self expression.

social realism

This aims to draw attention to the real social conditions. As I experience my life and people around the world. I express the need to paint the message that comes to me.

cubism & abstract

Abstract: is a visual language of shape, form, color and line to create composition. I find lots of freedom to paint abstract paintings. I call freedom to play on a large canvas.
Cubism: is an early -20th- Century art moment. I feel I have deep connection with three dimensional form of art. My first Cubism painting “Ganesh” is a perfect example of my creation of Cubism.

spiritual art

Born in india, I was exposed to all religions and cultures. Sikh teaching and scriptures have a large impact from my childhood. My father ( Balbir Singh Momi) is a writer and journalist. At the dinner table we would have discussions,  from Sufi poets to Saints. My Spiritual Art depicts the meaning of the circle of life, a halo, a universe or Chakra. Eye catching colorful circle’s have very deep messages.
